Industry Partnership: Lab on Chip Chemical Sensor Technology for Ocean Observing
نویسندگان
چکیده
We introduce for the first time a new product line able to make high accuracy measurements of number water chemistry parameters in situ : i.e., submerged environment including deep sea (to 6,000 m). This is based on developments lab chip technology at National Oceanography Centre (NOC), and University Southampton produced under license by Clearwater Sensors Ltd., start-up industrial partner bringing this global availability further developing its potential. The has already been deployed NOC, with their partners worldwide over 200 times depths ∼4,800 m, turbid estuaries rivers, up year seasonally ice-covered regions arctic. capable making accurate determinations chemical biological that require reagents which produce an electrical, absorbance, fluorescence, or luminescence signal. As such it suitable wide range environmental measurements. Whilst are development across partnership, Nitrate, Nitrite, Phosphate, Silicate, Iron, pH sensors currently available commercially. Theses use microfluidics optics combined optofluidic electromechanical valves pumps mounted upon mix samples measure optical response. An overview underlying components technologies given together examples deployments integrations observing platforms as gliders, autonomous underwater vehicles moorings.

3D Integration Technology for Lab-on-a-Chip Applications
A review is presented of advances and challenges in fully integrated systems for personalised medicine applications. One key issue for the commercialisation of such systems is the disposability of the assay-substrate at a low cost. This work adds a new dimension to the integrated circuits technology for lab-on-a-chip systems by employing 3D integration for improved performance and functionality...
متن کاملLab-on-a-chip technology for continuous glucose monitoring.
The demand for continuous glucose monitoring systems is greater than ever. The microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) approach has the advantage of being relatively easy to upscale to a commercial level; the preferred MEMS technique would be to run several detectors at once and, through the improved statistics, get a both more accurate and more reliable device than is currently available. Lab-on...
متن کاملPromoting Industry-University Partnership in Information Technology
It is becoming increasingly difficult for Nigerian universities to go it alone in terms of serving as a citadel of learning, coping with the huge wage bill and competing with their peers in other parts of the world, due to competitive, economic and other pressures. As a consequence, Nigerian universities are left with no option than to carry their industrial partners along in terms of research ...
